Hi Martin

That’s perhaps the only function I use of twitter (untweeted myself recently). I’m sure you know – but you don’t mention it – you can set a rss feed on your search term in Twitter?
On the search results page of twitter top right is the feed logo.

And every time this term comes up in a tweet it is automagically ‘transported’ to my feed reader.

(I’m using it at the moment for two terms: our company names and our main product and intend to use it for more phrases).
