Hi Ian,

Yes – all those social media sites take some learning..!

With my Facebook page I’ve been adding short comments as well as publishing my posts on it. The short comments simply refer to products I’ve found or things that occur to me – almost like Twitter tweets, but a bit longer. Or normal Facebook updates, but focused specifically on my business.

As with all things new, I got an initial rush of visitors which then dropped back (Seth Godin: The Dip) and is slowly starting to recover.

I have a facebook page for my business but have not really got my head round what to do with it. I do publish my blog on it. I’m even further away from understanding twitter! Am i getting old?!! I’ll be following your site to see what you come up with!

I’m sorry to hear that, but I cannot think of a more powerful way of getting the message across – thank you for sharing your experience.

I hope you’re able to recover your readership. You may want to try setting up a competition or something that will trigger your readers to return and then you can apply the lessons of the past.

Good luck with it, whatever you decide to do.

i ahve a FB group with over 1000 members but sadly after a few months most of my members wont even bother to read my posts anymore as i update to much and they feel its like spam. Really sad

Yes – you do need to socialise if you’re going to make social media work for you!
