Somebody called me up the other day to ask which G.A.P. doorway page they should use. That was the first time I’d been asked that question!
Anyway – here’s what I said to them:
I can’t answer your question because it’s just not that simple..!
The best thing I can do is give you an overview of the issues that I consider when choosing doorway pages.
Firstly - I have 5 doorway pages that I can use, but over time I’ve narrowed it down to 2
that I prefer.
For me there are a number of issues that I look at when choosing my preferred doorway page:
1) How much control do I want over the look, feel and wording of my doorway page.
2) How much control do I want over my opt-ins, once they’re on my list. Keep in mind that your list is the only REAL asset you have in your online business - and you’ve worked hard (and possibly paid a lot) to get your opt-ins onto it.
3) How much control do I want over my email follow up sequence – content, timing, etc.
4) How effective is the auto-responder system that’s attached to the doorway page at
getting emails delivered. (There are big differences between different auto-responder
systems)
5) How effective is the doorway page at getting people to enter their details.
In order to answer those questions you first need to create a clear vision for your own
business and how you want to run it.
There’s a whole range of answers to the question ‘how do you want to run your business’.
These go from ‘Totally Outsourced’ at one extreme to ‘Totally Hands-On’ at the other. And you can come up with any number of configurations in between. [See the previous post – How to Succeed With G.A.P.]
That was my response to that question.
I should explain that of the 5 doorway pages that I can use for my business, 2 of them are G.A.P. doorway pages that automatically add opt-ins to G.A.P. auto-responder systems.
The other doorway pages are ones that I’ve built. With these I have total control over the look and feel of the doorway page itself as well as the ability to add opt-ins to whichever list I want.
