WordPress Upgrade Time

It must be about time for another WordPress upgrade – it’s been about 5 or 6 weeks since the last one..!

Upgrading your WordPress version can be a real pain, especially if you haven’t done it before and haven’t discovered some of the neat plugins that can make it a heck of a lot easier and quicker.

Because of the response to a couple of previous posts I’ve made on the process of upgrading WordPress, I’ve put together a comprehensive step by step WordPress Upgrade Guide.

It covers everything from before you start to after you finish:

  • How to check and upgrade your theme and plugins so as to avoid problems with them after upgrading
  • How to make a full back up of your blog system files
  • How to make a full back up of your blog database
  • How to restore your blog database in the event anything goes wrong
  • How to upgrade your WordPress version in 5 – 7 minutes with this great plugin
  • How to upgrade WordPress manually (if you really want to!)
  • How to tidy up and back up afterwards

This is an indispensible guide for anyone new (ish) to WordPress or for anyone who just doesn’t like doing that kind of stuff.  Check it out here:
