I dipped into a blog recently that I don’t visit nearly enough: Web Services and Tools.
Eric, who writes that blog, is an Internet veteran. And he has a wonderful ability to dig out all sorts of information from the most obscure places and write about it on his blog.
A recent article of his that I read listed a whole series of free tools for people working online. You can find it here.
One of the tools that I liked from this article was an online header/logo creator: Logo Creator.
It uses a number of templates and allows you to tailor effects, fonts, sizes and colours to your requirements and then creates a header or logo image file for you to download.
The templates tend towards a typical Web 2.0 look – i.e. rounded edges, mirror effects, Web 2.0 type colours and so on, so definitely worth a look if you need that kind of branding.
There are also a number of other tools there that you should really check out, especially if you’re doing any sort of online, paid work on a project basis.
On the subject of header creators, I found another one recently.
This one is not online – it’s a free download from the people who produced XSitePro. It’s called XHeader and you can find it here.
It’s different from the Logo Creator. The templates that are included (more than 500) are not what I think of as Web 2.0, and there’s a wide range of options for things you can do with text and fonts.
Those templates are very nice, plus you have the option of importing your own images and adding text or smaller images as you want. So you have a heck of a lot of flexibility, plus the ability to create your own header from the ground up.
The quality of the resulting header graphics is outstanding.
